Staines & Wraysbury WalkStaines, Middlesex. Mon 21 Apr 2014 |

The path was often hard to see and follow, with many fallen trees. It ran along by County Ditch between two former gravel pits Colne Mere and Heron Lake Heron Lake Colne Mere Some we had to duck under, others go round or climb over On our left was Heron Pond, but there was a swan on it |

The path petered out in a boggy area From which I led the way, either turning left or right at some point (a matter of bitter family dispute) but ending up going along the edge of a third former gravel pit, Hythe Lagoon and finally, after climbing a couple of fences we arrived at Hythe End. The old bridge at Hythe end was prettier than the modern replacement We went down Wraysbury Rd towards Staines, then took a detour up Colne Way, back to the Colne Brook and a footbridge over the weir |
