St Paul's - Ecce Homo twice

City of London. Thu 13 April 2017

A man was sitting on the steps at the north side of St Paul's Cathedral, reading the TImes Literary SUpplement and wearing a kind of dunce's cap

with eye-holes and the word 'SINNER'. He wasn't answering questions

Mark Wallinger's Ecce Homo - a statue of Jesus wearing a crown of barbed wire and a loincloth - was on the steps of St Paul's

It seemed more impressive here than when seen as a small figure on top of the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square

But why is the barbed wire gold?

And why, if it is supposed to be Jesus, doesn't it look more like a Middle-Eastern Jew?
