Stop Deportation Of LGBTI Asylum Seekers

Nigerian High Commission, London. Tue 17 May 2017

Nigeria allows the UK to arrange charter flights to take asylum seekers back to Nigeria

Many who are returned face mob attacks, public whippings, evictions from homes, harassment and discrimination

for being gay - or even for being suspected of being gay.

Nigeria could stope these flights simply by refusing to accept them - but the UK offers financial incentives

Nigerians and others say they should not allow themselves to be bribed in this way, but should protect their citizens

Some of those deported are only part way through their applications for asylum

but will have little or no chance of pursuing these claims from Nigeria

As well as Nigeria, charter flights are arranged to other countries including Bangladesh
