Protest welfare reforms, cuts & sanctions

Kentish Town, London. Tue 18 Jul 2017

Rev Paul Nicolson talks about his refusal to pay council tax outside Kentish Town Jobcentreplus

The protest was part of DPACs week of action for the London World Para Athletics Championships which they

say the government supports to cover up the way they are targeting disabled people, many who have already

died as a result of benefit changes and the DWP's deliberate policy of attrition with largely arbitrary sanctions

and unfairly administered tests of fitness to work. Claire Glasman of Winvisible holds a poster as she talks about this.
Larence Bond collapsed and died from a heart attack in January minutes after leaving Kentish Town Jobcentre where he had been told he was fit to work
He was waiting for the result of his second appeal against his work capability assessment and his Employment and Support Allowance had been cut.

Another poster shows Lillian Oluk and her daughter who starved to death after Kent council stopped their food vouchers

A woman behind the Momentum banner holds up a poster saying 'cuts & sanctions drive women into prostitution'

 A Unison activist speaks out
