Sally Hunt, UCU. THe universities thought the union would never get
support for the strike, but there were
large turnouts for the secret ballots, with high percentages voting
for striking, depsite the restrictive trade union laws
Frances O'Grady, John McDonnell (mainly hidden0 at left behind Sally
John McDonnell came to the microphone and greeted us all in Russian,
joing about the gutter press trying to
smear him and Jeremy Corbyn as communist spies.
He pledged Labour's full support to the strikers, and their intention
to get rid of unfair laws limiting the actions of
the trade unions.
