Potent Whisper
A campaigner speaks about Labour Southwark Council's continuing demolition
of the Aylesbury estate
A protester holds a poster suggesting that what the Luftwaffe failed
to destroy London's largely Labour councils are now demolishing
As former Lambeth Council leader and veteran Labour politician was
called to speak, Class War erupted. London Labour
councils are at the forefront
of creating housing problems in London, demolishing or planning to demolish
over 160 council estates and selling them, often at cut-price, for development
as largely or entirely high-price housing with a largely insignificant social
housing element, resulting in a huge process of social cleansing.
Eileen Short of Defend Council Housing speaks and calls for the protesters
to walk around the empty CIty Hall with their banners
Labour supporters argue with Class War. Those at the protest oppose
the 'regeneration' schemes that Labour councils are engaged in
but so far, except in Haringey have had no impact on the policies
of London Labour councils, still dominated by right-wing Labour.
The Homes for All banner leads the walk around City Hall
'Save Reginald - Save Tidemill'
Southwark banner calls for investment in Council housing and a poster
calls for support in Charlton
