Sudanese protest against al-Bashir
Trafalgar Square, London. 27th January 2019
Sudanese protested in the rain on the north terrace of Trafalgar Square
It was raining pretty steadily, and many of my pictures were spoilt
by raindrops falling on the lenses as I took them.
Protests have been going on in cities across Sudan since the 19th
December, calling for the president to go
and to be tried by the International Criminal Court for his war crimes.
The ICC made two long lists of charges
back in 2009 and 2010, but have been unable to bring him to justice.
Protests in Sudan have been brutally repressed, with over 50 deaths
and many injuries. Many have been
harassed, arrested and tortured, and in Omduran a week before this
protest a military vehicle was driven
into a crowd of protesters.
