Regent's Canal

Bethnal Green & Hackney, London. Thu 11th Apr 2019

I took the Overground to Cambridge Heath station on Cambridge Heat Road

and walked a short distance down Hackney Rd

 to the Oval

St Casimir's Lithuanian Church was built in 1912. Services are still mainly in Lithuanian. At right is Grove Passage

 The Oval

The space in the centre used to be a car park

Corbridge Crescent leads past Containerville on a part of the gas works site to run beside the Regent's Canal

This building used to be offices for Empress Coaches. It is all that remains of the original 1836 development of The Oval.
The yard behind is currently being redeveloped and will dwarf these buildings.

The buildings on the other side of the canal are in Hackney

 Corbridge Crescent

The yard behind the wall at right where Empress Coaches were parked is currently being built with 56 residential units and ground floor commercial space

Grove Passage and Corbridge Crescent under the railway bridge

 Hare St and Grove Passage

 The Hare, Cambridge Heath Road

Just in case you are in any doubt, this is The Hare

 Victoria Buildings, Mare St

 Andrews Rd

The Great Eastern Railway originally had two tracks in 1872, but a couple of fast lines were added in 1894 (closer to camera)
