Detention Centres Shut Them Down

Harmondsworth, London. Sat 7 May 2016

I arrived after most of the protesters had rushed pas security down the private road between the two prisons
but after a couple of minutes walked down to join them

where they were protesting noisily in view of some of those held in the two prisons behind the tall fences.

One banner was in three languages, English, French and Arabic 'Close Detention Centres - Open Borders!'

Another had a mobile phone number written large for those inside to call

People were shouting and using megaphones to let those inside know there were people outside who cared about them

Security force out the last two protesters from the back of Harmondsworth prison

The protesters stop and security push them

and try to force them to the front of the site

Soon more police arrived and helped to force the protesters out

Police and security drag one protester who refused to move

People stand beside the fence. Kicking it makes a loud noice those inside can hear

security move in on the protesters, pushing violently

and some peole are sent flying

People are watching from inside the prison, waving and we can hear them shouting in support. But police move
us out before I can get a clear view through the fence
